Civil Rights (1st Amendment & 2nd Amendment)

Mr. Frankel is has many years of experience in using the law to protect civil rights, most recently in connection with 1st Amendment and 2nd Amendment protected activities.  These include:

  • 1st Amendment:  served pro bono as a ‘Police Liaison” during large civil disobedience protest at Lockheed-Martin and as pro bono ‘on-site’ civil rights lawyer in connection with ‘Open Carry’ protests.
  • 2nd Amendment:  represented protesters at ‘Open Carry’ protests; represented law-abiding gun owner in Open Carry negotiations with City; engaged as pro bono counsel; have counseled clients re: applicable state and federal laws related to firearms
  • Other Civil Rights Cases:  represented Alex White Plume and the White Plume Tiospaye in connection with litigation related to efforts to grow and process non-drug Industrial Hemp at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation

  • Protecting right to freely associate and publicly protest
  • Protecting right to keep and bear arms
  • Protecting rights under treaty and federal Indian law
